A sedentary lifestyle is one of the major risk factors for heart disease. Being physically active improves the function of cardiac muscle and improves the body's ability to consume and utilize oxygen.
According to this article wellness is explained as an active progression of becoming aware of and making choices toward a more successful life (Kaplan University, 2011). In order to better ourselves we have to make changes in our daily lives, embracing the change, and running with it. In the fitness world, those changes include eating healthier, being more physically active. As a fitness instructor I have to make sure that my classes have the three major components of an exercise program, which are aerobic activity, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility.
No matter how long you have been working out, results are very hard to see. These can lead to frustration and a lack of motivation to continue with your workout.
Stress and anxiety can affect our health and well-being mentally and physically. The following stress management guide shows different ways on how to handle stress as well as exercises that can release some of the stress we tend to carry on the body.
This was the resume I used to obtain my current job at the Radford Fitness Center.
Besides regular medical care, we can help our clients in a holistic way. Knowing our clients issues prior to engaging into a health and wellness plan that involves physical activity will help understand possible and potential limitations.
NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION.
I have included this video/powerpoint presentation to help you understand a bit more what nutritional supplements are all about and how to use them.
For unit six, I needed to choose three of the topics I have studied thus far that have interested me the most. I picked the following three because to me it is important to know yourself and how to take care of yourself throughout your life span. Having said that, you can do so by utilizing alternative methods such as supplements or herbal remedies. Lastly, as a fitness instructor, I found sports nutrition very important as well.
